Wednesday, July 2ndPoet, activist and singer Gil-Scott Heron is bringing his funk and attitude to Toad's Place of Richmond. Having released 25 records, 5 books of poetry and socio-political insight, he has been dubbed the "godfather of rap" and is widely considered to be a founder of the genre. His most famous work, released in the 1970's includes poem and songs "The Revolution WIll Not Be Televised" and "Home Is Where The Hatred Is." Joining Gil-Scott Heron is Richmond native and favorites Plunky & Oneness.
